Agroforestry Systems

The Instituto de Bosques de Guatemala (Guatemalan Forest Institute) certifies Coffee production that uses the Agroforestry System.

Certain forest species are grown,Inga such as Shimbillo (Inga spp.),Southern Silky Oak (Gravilea Robusta), Pine(Pinus spp), Cypress (Cupressus lusitanica) and oaks (Quercus spp), among others. 

These mountain conditions provide crops with shade, which allow them to benefit from mineral-rich soil and intensify the grain’s flavors and aromas.

a) Ecological Operation:

The farms elevation ranges from 1,500 to 1,800 meters above sea level and the annual rainfall annual average is 2000 mm. The area is distinguished by mountainous topography, with views of rivers and volcanoes. The agroforestry system preserves the areas biodiversity.

b) Social and Environmental Conditions:
